Massage therapy remains one of the most requested services at our Long Island office.
We are thrilled to announce that Tuesdays and Fridays starting in March, we will once again be able to offer these services!
Carrie Parker, LMT and Catherine Guardino, LMT are two skilled manual therapists who will be bringing a variety of massage techniques to our office. Having both worked in professional spa settings for years, they will be bringing a new level of quality and relaxation to clients, in addition to their extensive experience treating injuries and helping patients recover from pain.
Clients often want to know the difference between the soft tissue work that Dr. Valente offers and the therapy provided by massage therapists.
Both methods are beneficial and offer their advantages, and many of them have techniques that overlap (like cupping and trigger point release).
In fact, Dr. Valente often encourages clients to receive massage in tandem with his own treatment. The two techniques are like peanut butter and jelly, two great things that are even better together!
Chiropractic treatments often address the whole kinetic chain along an affected part of the body (for example, the movement of the leg when a patient walks). By combining tissue work, corrective exercises, and nerve flossing, Dr. Valente treats the musculoskeletal system as a whole, finding the root cause of pain and seeking to correct it.
Massage therapy can be beneficial for patients with especially tight or sensitive soft tissues due to overused or underused muscles. The hour-long treatment deeply targets problem areas, allowing for noticeable improvement in mobility and health of soft tissue and muscles in the body. By loosening the tight tissue or myofascia in a patient's back, they allow the patient to recover faster from pain or injury. This treatments while soothing and relaxing, is also an intense way of addressing the symptoms of pain.
Massage therapy is great for athletes, and also beneficial for patients with arthritis, chronic pain, and chronic inflammation. It can energize, reduce anxiety and insomnia, reduce inflammation and improve the body's circulation.
The best part? Some insurance plans may cover the cost of massage therapy! Inquire with our office to see what your coverage details will be like!
